My best friend in the whole wide world and her (then) boyfriend got preggo kind of unexpectedly last year. They had a shotgun wedding, an amazingly fun celebration afterwards and have been nesting like mo-fos since then. Bestie Jamie is almost ready to pop, and I have the honor of helping put together her baby shower!

Their theme for the baby’s room revolves around trees and nature, so I included that theme in the invitation design. We got some cupcake toppers from Bake It Pretty that we’ll be using, along with some fun straws for the sparkling punch, some hanging lanterns and other colorful fun decorations. It’s going to be a good old-fashioned baby party!

I feel like I’ve been nesting for the soon-to-be parents… rabidly browsing independent baby retailers online, getting inspiration for baby crafting projects and just generally being super excited for the big day! One of the websites I write for occasionally, Offbeat Mama, has been a great inspiration, as well Modern Kiddo and Prudent Baby.

I handmade several things for their growing family, but I can’t post pics of them here because they haven’t opened their presents yet! I’m about to head to Denver to see the huge-bellied Jamie and her illustrious handy husband Denny. I’ll report back with pictures from the shower!

PS – Check out my live show review of Sarah Jaffe at the Tractor Tavern here in Seattle. She brought Texas to the NW, and that couldn’t make me happier!
